- Grant Coordinator. LSCA Major Urban Library Resources Grant
(MURL) - 1979-1995. Led the team that purchased approximately $9000 a year
of materials on women. Applied for the grant, reported on it and prepared
numerous bibliographies on the collection.
- Coordinator Weekend Library Line. 1978-1986. Late-night
telephone reference service for the Bay Area . Hired, trained, and
supervised a staff of 10 librarians.
- Union Leader - 1985-1990. Organized a wall-to-wall
chapter (Local 535, SEIU) at the library, served first as library president
and then City President. Helped negotiate three contracts. Aside from
negotiating comparable worth, my favorite bargaining win is the City
sabbatical leave policy. Only city employee ever named Employee of the
Month as a result of their Union work.
