Rare Intellivision Manuals

Step-By-Step Guide to Home Computing

The "Step-by-Step Guide to Home Computing" was available only by mail from Mattel, which they would send if you returned your Entertainment Computer System registration card. The text to the Guide has been added to the Intellivision Library, in the Manuals section (where you'll also find the Computer Module Owner's Guide, and the manuals for the Music Synthesizer, System Changer and Test Cartridge).

Original full-color Mattel manuals

Ten of the original Mattel games came with full-color manuals. (See below for the list.) They soon switched to two-color manuals to cut costs. Generally the full-color manuals lack any revision suffix ["(A)" or "(B)" or "G1", etc.] after the game code on the front of the manual, although some color manuals made it to at least an (A) revision. I'm pretty sure that the list below is complete, but please contact me if you have a full-color manual not listed below that you'd like to trade or scan.

For good measure, here's a scan of a TRON: Deadly Discs manual which I found. While not in full-color, it makes use of more shades of blue than the typical two-shade manuals for Deadly Discs which I've seen previously, and features red AND blue. A minor oddity...

The following scans are an example of the game manuals which were distributed for use with the PlayCable system. The inside cover describes how to set up PlayCable for Intellivision (instead of how to set up the Intellivision itself), and there's a PlayCable part number on the back.
