CONNECTICUT JUDO INCORPORATED JUNIOR BLUE BELT TEST

 

To be awarded this rank a junior student must:

 

1.     Be nine years old with one year as green belt.

2.     Show good moral character.

3.     Know the vocabulary, throws and mat work from all lesser ranks.

4.     Demonstrate the following Judo basics:

a.      Ukemi: Including back, side, and front falls and forward rolls.

b.     Kumikata: Grips and grip breaking.

c.     Shisei: Natural and defensive postures.

d.     Shintai: Normal and sliding foot walking.

e.      Kuzushi: 8 directions of breaking balance.

f.       Taisabaki: Front and rear 90 and 180-degree pivots.

5.     Demonstrate the following throwing techniques:

a.      One throw from each previous rank.

b.     Tai Otoshi (Body drop throw).

c.     Ko Uchi Gari (Little inside reaping throw)

d.     Koshi Guruma (Hip wheel).

e.      Tani Otoshi (Valley drop throw).

f.       Ushiro Goshi (Rear hip throw).

g.     One counter to a forward attack.

6.     Demonstrate the following newaza (Mat work).

a.      One hold from each previous rank.

b.     Ushiro kesa Gatame (Reverse scarf hold).

c.     Kuzure (Modified) Kesa, yokoshiho and kamishiho gatame.

d.     Far lapel and arm turn over.
