Providing certified birth Doulas to the families of the San Francisco Bay Area since 1996. We offer a full range of services for women choosing to have a personalized hospital birth. We support freedom of choice based on knowledge of alternatives, while believing that working cooperatively with caregivers is essential to a satisfying birth experience. Now offering small monthly classes as an alternative to hospital sponsored classes where it is typical to have 12 to 20 couples registered. Our San Francisco classes meet in a beautiful space with natural light and surrounded by lush gardens.  In addition, newborn parenting/ breastfeeding and infant/ child CPR are scheduled in Marin, held after hours at Hellers in San Rafael. Discounts are given when registering for three or more classes.

	In a publication by Kennell, Klaus & Kennell (1993) entitled "Mothering the Mother, How A Doula Can Help You Have A Shorter, Easier and Healthier Birth", employing a Birth Doula may allow you to experience: * 60% reduction in epidural rates * 50% reduction in Cesarean Section rates * 40% reduction in labor augmentation (such as Pitocin) * 30% reduction in narcotic analgesic rates * 25% shorter labor! In addition, women who are interested in increasing their chances for a VBAC delivery experience greater success rates with a Birth Doula in attendance.
	Birth Doulas develop a relationship with the birthing mother and her partner in the third trimester. When labor begins, the new parents have grown into a trusting relationship with the Doula, who provides constant and continuous support to the mother, and respects and honors the role of the father or partner in the birth process.
	Although Birth Doulas can provide many alternatives to medical pain relief, we believe in supporting the birthing mother's choices. We offer non-judgemental care, com- passion and companionship. Because the birth of a child is also a sacred event, we bring with us a conscious heart to watch over the new family.
