How to use it:
select the event - 2007 Area 8 NJROTC Championship VOC
the map will load (you really need a high speed connection)
on the right, use the pull down to select the course, then the competitors
after you select the competitors, choose "view animation"
then select "start"
You can drag the map around by holding down the left mouse button and moving it on the map.
Other options let you zoom in and out and speed up / slow down the animation
If you remember your route, use the "draw your route" at the top to select yourself and input your route on the course.
O-rules  (general rules of conduct for orienteering - taken from USOF rules)
rules that everyone should read that deal with fairness, conduct and equipment that generally apply to all orienteering events (local or national)

Don't worry about the descriptive clue holder.  The descriptive clues will be printed on the map and the map handed out at the START.  VOC will supply the "dibbers", you supply your own compass.
If you loose your dibber, we will charge you $30 to replace it.
The video does not show what happens after the FINISH.  You will be directed to the results table where you will download the "dibber" to the computer and turn in your "dibber".
You will then be supplied a copy of your split times for the course.

GREEN - 4.2K  200m climb (male advanced)
BROWN - 3.4K  190m climb (female advanced)
ORANGE - 3.2K  105m climb (male & female intermediate)
YELLOW - 2.3K  70m climb (male & female advanced beginner)
PRACTICE MAPS
Competitors or people associated with any competitors, may not enter the area shown as "OUT OF BOUNDS" on the practice maps.
Any competitors or people associated with competitors spotted in the "OUT OF BOUNDS" area should be reported to the event officials.
The event jury will investigate any violations.  Violations may result in disqualification of any competitors and/or their team and/or their school.
The practice courses should be ready early on the morning of Friday, January 19, 2007.
Practice maps will be available at the Red Bud Pavilion near the start/finish.

Thank you to all who attended the 7th O-camp hosted by VOC and Headland High School NJROTC.  I hope everyone learned something at the camp.  We introduced electronic punching at the camp this time.  This should allow cadets to become familiar with the system and how it is used by orienteering clubs.  We will be using electronic punching at the January 2007 VOC/NJROTC event.  Thank you from the VOC....Joey, James and Beth
