About Wrestling

Based on early cave drawings, wrestling is the world’s oldest sport.   The first recorded Olympic wrestling match occurred in the Olympics in 708 BC and continues as an Olympic sport to this day.

Wrestling has become one of the fastest growing youth sports in the country.  Women’s wrestling is also gaining a foothold in the sport as more clubs, high schools and colleges add women’s programs.

Three styles of wrestling are emphasized at the Bulldog Wrestling Club:   folkstyle (Collegiate and High school styles), freestyle, and Greco-Roman.

For the beginning wrestler, the club promotes sportsmanship, agility, balance, confidence, discipline, all around fitness and most importantly FUN!!   For the intermediate and high school wrestler, the club offers a level of coaching that will enable the wrestler to gain the skills necessary to be a state championship contender.

Absolutely no weight loss activity is promoted by the club or its coaches.   Wrestlers are encouraged not to be concerned about weight limits.   Improving technique is our only goal!
