Synchronicity
by Stephanie Y. Rothman, C.H.T.
When you look for miracles, you will see them. Just the other day, I was
on my way to Longs Drug Store in San Diego, California, when I noticed a
pair of glasses sitting on a 5-foot-high wall that was quite a distance
away from Longs - maybe 100 feet. The wall was closer to a cookware store
than to Vons. The glasses looked a little worse for the wear, and not in
very good shape, because if they did look special, I would have probably
taken them into the cookware store to be put in their lost and found. But,
for some reason, I took note of them. I was to find out the reason in
about 20 minutes.
In my usual way, I meandered all around Longs looking at the latest makeup
and jewelry, checking the prices on some herbs I take, chit-chatting with
someone in another department (nobody is a stranger to me) and then I
finally ended up in the wine section on the other side of the store.
All of a sudden, I overheard this little old lady asking one of the service
people if he had seen any glasses and pointing to her empty eyeglass
holders around her neck. A light bulb went off in my head! I didn't for
one minute think that those raggedy old glasses that I had seen on that
wall outside might be the answer to this lady's prayers. She seemed so
upset, that I told her "well, I'm not sure if they might be your glasses (I
felt very doubtful), but I did see a pair outside. Let's go take a
look." Well, when I picked those glasses up off that wall, I noticed
that they weren't raggedy at all; that they were actually in fine
shape. And yes, they were this little old lady's! She was so
grateful! You would have thought I gave her back a million dollars that
she lost. Her name was Esther.
You see, if I hadn't been in that store in that particular department at
that very moment, Esther would probably have never gotten her glasses
back. I'm getting goose bumps right now, are you? Miracles happen every
single day. You just have to be open to seeing them. Keep looking.
