The First Commandment

In 1982, I was trying to obtain the final agreement for a divorce. I had been going to my lawyer for two and one half years. My husband and his lawyer came to various "four way meetings". Nothing was moving, nothing was resolved. We did decide that our agreement would be fair to both parties and completed in the lawyer's offices. No judge would dictate the rules of the divorce agreement. We played back and forth. It was a stalemate.

At the same time, I was seeing a therapist who worked with the unconscious mind using music and imagery. This process was to help me understand what was happening an inner level. It was also to increase my confidence and self esteem.

Consciously, I had no idea that there was anything holding me back from a legal conclusion. As a matter of fact, I as a modern woman thought that divorce was a legitimate option.

One day, during therapy, I was into a very relaxed state and noticed a very unusual scene. My therapist encouraged me to go deeper into this visualization.

I saw a vision of Moses with the Tablets holding the 10 commandments. I was instructed to read them. Actually, all that I needed to read was the First Commandment. It said, "Thou shall not leave thy husband unless one of you is dead." When I awakened from my altered state I was amazed that I had held this belief in depths of my being. I believed without doubt, " Until death do you part."

It was even more interesting when I went back to the lawyer's office, two days later. Every thing was resolved in an hour. Papers flew back and forth and the agreement was signed and completed.

I had blamed everyone else. However, I had played a important in this drama.

It was my unconscious belief which kept the situation from going forward. When that belief was uncovered, it was resolved.

We carry many beliefs in our unconscious mind. Some do not allow us to move ahead in life. This event was so powerful, I decided to move into a career which tapped into the unconscious through visualization and hypnotherapy.

Ms. Zohman has been doing, past lives, age regression and emotional release therapy since 1991. Her favorite comment is, "It is always wonderful to see people progress when unconscious limitations are released."
