To those who served: WELCOME HOME

The Vietnam Conflict. Nam. Charley. Grunts. Viet Cong. The Vietnam War.
These are words that just about every American is familiar with,
decades after the final soldier lost his life in battle.

The children continue searching.
The memorials continue to be built.
The stories continue to be published.
The songs and poems continue to be written.
The tears continue to fall.
The soldiers continue to die.

For some of us, all we have left of our loved ones that died in Viet Nam are names etched into a granite wall. Others are lucky to have a picture or two. Maybe some letters home, or awards, or trinkets.
Some of us, like myself, have never felt our father's arms around us, and others were too young to remember.

This page will help to describe, maybe just a little, what it is like to just have a small box of mementos of a person I never knew, a person who died 17 days before I was born.
A lot of questions. Most of them still cannot be answered. I've already lived longer than my father.
