Liangong, A Chinese Health Exercise
|
Liangong combines China's ancient therapeutic movement therapies
(qigong) with current medical theory from the east and west. It involves breathing, stretching, and spreading of the limbs
in slow dynamic movements, like a simple form of yoga. With 20-35 minutes of daily practice, the exercise can prevent and
heal pain in muscles and joints, gently develop fitness, relieve stress, and promote general health. Liangong is easier to
learn than Taiji and provides health benefits sooner. People of all ages and physical ability can benefit from the increased
circulation, range of motion, and energy these exercises provide.
Classes offered: Liangong Series 1 (everyone welcome!)
Liangong
Series 2 (Series 1 required)
Liangong
Series 3 (Series 1 - 2 required)
Liangong

Guo Ling Qigong:
This qigong is practiced to improve the body's natural immune system. It was created by Guo Ling, a woman who battled
uterine cancer. A master of the Wu Qinxi (Five Animal Play) qigong, she turned to qigong after Eastern and Western therapies
had no effect on the cancer which had spread through her body. Her life was prolonged for more than 20 years. Qigong is the
component of traditional Chinese medicine that uses the mind, physical alignment, and movement to bring qi (vital life energy)
into balance. A quiet, walking exercise, Guo Ling Qigong combines motion with stillness and meditation.
Northern Shaolin Kung Fu:
Traditional Shaolin is characterized by overall speed and quickness, varied footwork, precision, and creative applications
of techniques. It is a whirlwind of circular, straight, short, and long attacks that flow and escalate from one to the next.
Basic training requires building a strong foundation of stances, handwork, and footwork. It progresses to include weapons
and animal forms. Some martial art experience required.
