Greetings to all from the Schatzberg family. Pictured above, are Mike, Scott, Linda, and Andrew.

Our older son, Scott, has joined the Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  For the First Time ever in New Mexico, Animal Neurology has become available to Pet Owners. In the past, pet owners in need of a veterinary neurologist would have to drive to Denver or Phoenix for a consult and treatment. Not any more! Scott is the first ever veterinary neurologist in New Mexico.

Scott J. Schatzberg, DVM, PhD, DACVIM (Neurology)  will be heading up the new Neurology Department.  Scott graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1993 and subsequently received his PhD (1998) and DVM (2000) from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Raleigh. After completing his internship and residency at Cornell University CVM, Scott spent a year reviving the Neurology Service at the Animal Medical Center in New York City and subsequently worked as a staff Neurologist at Canada West Veterinary Specialists in Vancouver, BC. After three years in specialty practice, he accepted a position as Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine where he was on faculty for 4.5 years. At UGA-CVM, Scott had recently been awarded tenure and promoted to Associate Professor. He is internationally known for his research in canine meningoencephalitis (inflammatory brain disease). He continues to actively research the genetics of meningoencephalitis in small breed dogs including Pugs, Maltese, and Chihuahuas. Scott has extensive experience in the MRI diagnosis of various neurological disorders of the brain and spinal cord.

Andrew, is a musician, songwriter, video cinematographer and editor, and has purchased a new home nearby in Asheville, NC.  Andrew has completed his new state of the art recording facility, Landslide Studio, and is currently serving recording artists in Western North Carolina.  Andrew is the owner and founder of Alive and Well Records, a new recording label, also operating from Asheville.
