Based on information from Ellis Island records, the U.S. Census, and Social Security (SSDI and SS-5 forms) collected by Stew and Gregory Cherlin. Descendants of Samuel from a tree constructed by Stanley Blum and Louise Ann Cotner.

Ida and Isidor entered under the name Cirlin and the family used the spellings Cherlin and Chirlin. Samuel and Charles filled out the SS-5 form two weeks apart, as Samuel Chirlin and Charles Cherlin; in the 1910 census the name is given as Cherlin.

The family lived in New York, later Florida (after retirement?).
