Arrested in the Ukraine by the KGB as part of a religious group, along with monks from Starodub, and sent to Kazakhstan to be shot. Became a Russian Orthodox Saint in 2000.

According to Yakovlev, 85000 Orthodox priests were shot in 1937. We would appreciate more detailed information.
