At the end of this lesson, students will be able to
understand some of the circumstances in which violence occur in Latin America,
and
express an educated opinion about violence in Latin America.
Tasks
Students will
a. listen to authentic Spanish radio broadcasts,
b. read opinions expressed by listeners of the radio programs,
c. take notes from both media sources, and
d. produce their own opinions on the issue.
Scenario
While surfing the net, you happen to find a radio broadcast about
violence in Latin America. You heard the broadcasts and read some of the
listeners opinions. Of course, you have your opinion too; so, you write
it and post it for the world to read it!
a. Listen to the news broadcasts and take notes of the 3 to 5
main ideas of each of them.
If there are more than one speaker, make separate lists of main ideas for
each one of them.
b. Write down a short summary of the main ideas of each program
c. Compose a well organized opinion page of 250 words where you
also include the main points the radio programs that you heard.
d. Post your opinion in the section suggested bellow.
Presentation
Read your opinion page, make the necessary corrections, and produce a final
draft about the violence in Latin America. If you used your word
