Visitando Tucumán, Argentina
Lesson Goals
At the end of this lesson, students will be able to

recognize the province of Tucumán on the map of Argentina,

recognize main tourist attractions in the province of Tucumán, and
-
present a sightseeing itinerary based on authentic Spanish texts.

and produce a three- to five-day sightseeing itinerary
Scenario
You have been assigned to plan a three- to five-day sightseeing trip
for your boss to Tucumán, Argentina, immediately after he is done
with a business meeting in Buenos Aires.
In order to gather information and prepare the itinerary, you contacted
a travel agency, which provided you with some Internet links in Spanish.
You also asked an old friend in Buenos Aires to be your point of contact
there. His English is limited, so you will have to communicate with
him in Spanish.
To do this activity, follow the links and the instructions provided.

Follow the links and provide your boss with the following information:
a. A map of Argentina
Locate on the map the province of Tucumán* and mark it.
b. A weather forecast for the days of the trip
Summarize the information with bullets.
c. The articles about tourism
Read the articles about the province of Tucumán and write a
250-word summary in Spanish. Then, write a description of cities
or places to be visited (in English, for your boss). Also, provide
him with a description of activities for each day.
d. Map of Tucumán
After reading the previous articles, pinpoint on the map the places
your boss will be visiting*.
e. A price list
Use the price list that appears at the end of one of the previous articles
to make an estimate of costs for the trip.

e-mail.
Presentation

Type the itinerary in English on your word processor (preferably Microsoft
Word), paste the maps and charts in the appropriate places, attach the
document to an introductory e-mail and send it to your
boss.

Write a summary of your plan in Spanish and send it to your
friend in Argentina for consultation. He will answer with comments
and suggestions.
