• Training is comprehensive, and requires on-site coursework, supervised Bonny Method sessions, personal Bonny Method
sessions, readings, music journals, case studies, and a final research project. Other requirements differ, according to the
individual Bonny Method training programs and the country of residence. In some countries and US states, the practitioner
must be a licensed counselor in order to practice the Bonny Method.
• All Bonny Method training programs and individual trainers must be approved by the Association for Music and Imagery.
• Trainees studying to practice the Bonny Method are highly recommended to have a master's degree in a related therapy
and a number of years of clinical experience. Some training programs require the master's degree.
• The training sequence, which is flexible, usually takes a minimum of three years to complete. Most individuals require
five-eight years to complete the training. Once trainees have completed all training requirements, they can apply to the Association
for Music and Imagery for their Fellow status.
• To remain a "Fellow in Good Standing" by the Association for Music and Imagery, a Bonny Method practitioner must complete
25 hours of continuing education requirements every five years.
