The City of Lights
Welcome to Natchitoches,
Louisiana - the city of lights. Every year the city strings a
larger array of lights than the previous year, and celebrates the start
of the Christmas season with an evening of festivities. Families get together,
and visitors come from all over the country to take part in the celebration.
Had the best duck gumbo I've ever eaten this night, at a friend's family
get-together. The city has a fireworks display, with the grand finale of
the lighting of the lights - all over the city, all at once. It's a breathtaking
scene, the lights on the water - worth the trip in December from most anywhere.
All of these were on the waterfront, although there's much more to see.
Maybe next trip, I'll get some pictures of the city itself. Hope you enjoy
