In the name of God Amen The second daie of March Anno Domini One thousand sixe hundred twentie sixe I William Bickham of Old cleve in the countie of Somersett Batchelor, being sicke of body but in perfect mind and memory (praised bee god) doe make this my last will and testament in this manner and forme following First I bequeath my Soule to allmighty god my Creator & Redeemer. And my body I leave to the earth from whence it came and to the disposing of my friends in christian buriall It[em] I give to my especiall good friend Mr Mallett Halswell of Charlinge a paire of gloves of the price of 13s and fouer pence Item I give to Mr Mallett Halswell his sisters eldest daughter (as yet unmarried) the sume of 3? It[em] I give to Christian Dovell Widdowe of Rodehimst the sume of 3? It[em] I give to Phyllip Slocombe the sum of 3? It[em] I give to Iseott Linham a paire of gloves of 10s Item I give to Aldred Bickham Jun the sume of 23s 1d and a silver spoone of 10s It[em] I give to William Studdier 23s 1d It[em] I give to all the residue of my Brother and Sisters children 20s apeece Item I give to Alice Oliver servant unto Mr Mallett Halswell 20s It[em] I bequeath to Joane Farthing servant alsoe unto Mr Mallett Halswell 10s It[em] I bequeath unto Henry Cole alsoe servant to Mr Halswell 5s Item to Thomas White alsoe servant to Mr Halswell 4s Item I give to John Sarvior fontaine Servant to Mr Halswell 3s It[em] I give to the poore of Old cleeve the sum of 20s Item to the poore of Spaxton 20s Item to the poore of Charlenge 10s to be distributed at each parish church by my overseers hereafter named by the assistance of some parishners It[em] I give to my Brother Aldred my racke Item my standing bedsteed with bedding performe after the death of my mother unto Phillip Slocombe It[em] I give to the widdowe Bryant 5s Item I give to John Coles my mothers Servant 20s Item I give unto my two Sisters 10s apiece It[em] I give to my brother in lawe Jo: Studdier 10s all which legacies before given to the poore to bee paid within one yeare after my decease, and all the residue within the space of two yeares at the most and by the descrecon of my Executrix hereafter named. The residue of my goods and chattells whatsoever I give and bequeath unto Ellen Bickham my mother, and her doe I make my whole Executrix. And I doe nominate and appoint my Brother Aldred Bickham and my brother in lawe John Studdier to bee my Overseers to see this my last will performed In witness hereto I doe sett my hand and seale here unto in the presence of William Bickham Jo: Studdier Aldred Bickham William Cookesley.
