Henry BICKHAM, Third Generation

5.  Henry BICKHAM, son of Richard BICKHAM and Mary WOOD, was born about 1728.1  Another name for Henry was Hendry BICKHAM. 2   

Recorded events in his life were: 

Guardianship of Henry Bickham,3 10 June 1748, in Gloucester County, New Jersey. Bickham, Henry, 19 yrs. and upwards, son of Richard Bickham, late of Gloucester Co., ward. Guardian - Samuel Shivers, of Racoon Creek, Gloucester Co.

  Petition to Charles Read, dated 21 June 1748, "That our nephew, Hendry Bickham hath made choses of Samuel Shivers for his Garden, etc." Signed. "Thomas Bickham  Martin Bickham

Guardianship of Henry Bickham,4 10 June 1748, in Gloucester County, New Jersey. "We Samuel Shivers of Rackoon Creek in the county of Gloucester . . . and Beakman Loyd of the same place yeoman . . . do stand bound unto his Excellency Jonathan Belsher Esqr Governor . . . in the sum of five hundred Pounds proclamation money . . .  this tenth day of June Domini one thousand seven hundred and forty eight . . . Whereas Henry Bickham an infant of the age of nineteen years and upward, son of Richard Bickham late of the county of Gloucester deceased hath by petition to me filed . . . in Burlington prayed that the above bound Samuel Shivers may be appointed guardian of his person & estate till he obtain his age of twenty one years . . . Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of Jos Scattergood.

  Petition to Charles Read - "That our nephew, Hendry Bickham hath made choses of Samuel Shivers for his Garden . . ." Signed 21 June 1748 by Thomas Bickham and Martin Bickham.

Quit Claim Deed5, 6 on 4 January 1749, in Greenwich Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey from from Henry Bickham to Martin Bickham. "Henry Bickham of the Township of Greenwich . . . yeoman . . . Martin Bickham of the same place . . . yeoman . . . five shillings of current lawfull money of New Jersey . . . of a tract of land that formerly belonged to his Grandfather Richard Bickham . . . the division between them the said Henry Bickham & Martin Bickham to be described by the following lines & bounds . . ." Witnesses: Wm. Wood, Wm. Gerrard, Ebenezer Miller, Jun. The deed was recorded 22 July 1774.

He purchased land &/or property from Abram Chattin, on 24 May 1750, in Woodbury, Gloucester County, New Jersey.7, 8 "Between Abraham Chattin of Woodberry in the Township of Depford . . . Yeoman . . . Henry Bickham of the Township of Greenwich . . . yeoman . . . for and in Consideration of the Sum of Six pounds Seven Shills & Six Pence Current Lawfull Money of New Jersey . . . a lot of Land Situate at Woodberry . . . Hester Run being a Corner of William Englands Lot . . . contained Two acres of Land . . ."  One of the witnesses to the deed was William Wood, the other witness was "cut off" when the copy was made.

He is listed in the 1810 Federal Census, in Redstone Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.9 In the household is one male of 16 and under 26, one male of 45 or over, two females under 10, one female of 10 and under 16, three females of 16 and under 26, and one female of 45 or over. It is uncertain if this census listing is for Henry Bickham, the son of Richard Bickham, or perhaps a grandson.
