Revising by Discussing Ideas

  1. Refer to your notes from class discussion. Look for the key concepts in your assignment, and then look back at your notes for anything that addresses the assignment. Choose that place in your notes to begin a draft for the assignment.

  2. Incorporate your notes from a class discussion or lecture into your paper. Make a seamless transition from your draft to your notes and back to your draft. Expand your writing by finding connections between your notes and your thoughts about your topic in your paper.

  3. Find the argument in your paper. What do you want to accomplish? What is the most important thing you say in order to accomplish what you want?

  4. Write a brief imaginary dialogue between you and your teacher as the two of you discuss your paper. How do you feel about your work when you talk to your teacher? What kinds of questions and comments does your teacher make? What do you have to say in response?
