If it ever comes into popular use, I want credit for coining the word.

An Idaho university refused to approve a research grant for a gay history project, saying that such research had “no commercial application” (and of course, that the refusal was not based in “homophobia”).  While an initial reaction is to nod your head in tacit agreement, give some thought as to just what the “commercial application” would be of research into, say, the migration pattern of serfs in 13th century feudal Europe.
