Urgent Update!

We're looking forward to a fun-filled weekend! Please visit http://home.earthlink.net/~fchs_74/attending.html to confirm we received your money. You'll also find the letter that we tried to send to all attendees this week.

Welcome to the Class of 74 reunion blog!

This weblog is an online journal of our quest to track down 200+ missing classmates as well as general whining about the search process. We'll try to keep up to date information about the reunion here. We'll still keep the commercial sites (reunion.com & classmates.com) updated as needed but for now, this is home base. If you'd like us to post your comments here, go to the bottom of the page and use the form or drop us an email by going to the contact page and we'll post it. Let me know if you want your name and contact information included.

Final plans
It looks like Friday and Saturday are coming together. Friday will probably be at the Marine Science Museum and Saturday is at the Cavalier. I don't have specific times but I will in a few days. Also, I intend to post photos from both nights on the web each day. If you have a digital camera and can get pictures to me, I'll include them.

So far we have about 120 confirmed attendees. Checks are still coming in. I hope to post a list of who is coming on this site shortly.

A few people have asked about getting contact info for other classmates. I'm encouraging people to put messages up on Lyle Piner's First Colonial forum. Go to http://firstcolonial.proboards21.com/ and register. You have the option to keep your email private. That way, you can interact without making your contact information public.

Finally, should we have a photographer at the reunion like we did at the 20-year?

That's it for now.

See you at the reunion,
--John F.

You have to take the bad with the good...
As I keep saying, we're down to the wire. People are finally making commitments although some have surprised me. It seems odd that some people will travel across the country to attend and others won't drive 5 miles. Maybe my failing memory has "misplaced" all the issues I probably had in high school. I can honestly say I look forward to seeing everyone, no matter what.

Case in point: Frank Dubois seems to have an issue with a Black Sabbath tape he let me borrow our senior year and never returned. Even he's able to see past this injustice and told me he looks forward to getting together. We should all learn from Frank's example, I know I have.

Sometimes you get the bear...
This week has been a challenge for the committee. Everyone has a lot going on and we need to get letters out. As I type this Amy, Mark and Hillary are stuffing envelopes. In the mean time, I'm having problems with the web site. We are trying to move everyone over to home.earthlink.net/~fchs_74 but the site doesn't want to let me edit it. I'll continue to update this site until we figure out what happened.

We're asking everyone to get their checks in as soon as possible. We need to finalize plans. One question: would anyone be interested in a tour of First Colonial High School on Friday June 25? We haven't checked with the school but we wanted to gauge interest first.

Letters are being sent
The letters are going out and the lists are made. Go to the Classmates link above to see who we don't have any information. At the bottom of the page is a link for the list of all the classmates we have some type of information. Become a volunteer. Print the lists and get on the phone. We have 60+ email address out of 552 classmates. Miles to go before we sleep...

Hey, I got kids, a bizillion things going on and I'm trying to trackdown 200+ people.  This site will occasional get neglected. Check back often anyway! I'll try to post some high school stories if I can get the old long-term memory working.
