The indexes to CAA Accident Reports accessible from this page are arranged in three different ways.

1. By SuDocs number suffix. This is the way the reports are arranged in the RG 287 boxes, under the general category of C 31.213, then by the by alphanumeric SuDocs designation, which was derived from the accident location using library classification rules.

2. Chronologically by date of occurence, from 1940 to 1965, although there is one report for 1966.

3. By location of the accident: First by state, country, or ocean, then by specific place, usually a city or other geographical location. US States are listed albhabetically by two letter abbreviation. Canadian provinces are also included, as are some foreign countries, and the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.  Cities are the major sub-heading under this, but mountains, bodies of water, or similar locations are also used.

In addition to the SuDocs number, date and location of accident, these indexes include type and manufacturer of aircraft involved. If its serial number, operator/owner, and flight number were included in the report, these are also noted. Additional information is included as notes.  In the case of collissions, both aircraft involved are listed in a single entry.
