URBANWARE
by ROBERT KIBLER
URBANWARE is a line of art pottery and tableware that I produce from my studio in Los Angeles, California. The work is hand thrown and one of a kind. I am currently working in the Majolica glazing technique, a method of glazing that traces its roots to ninth century Persian pottery, but which is best known for the decorated wares of the Italian Renaissance. Originally, majolica ware was lead glazed, but I use a glaze free of lead, so the pottery is completely safe for food use, and fully functional. My work has been shown in international exhibitions and is held in collections throughout the United States. In addition to the studio pottery, I also teach the majolica technique as part of the ceramics program at Glendale Community College.
