Did I tell you about the bull?
Yeah well, I guess it is hard to fit everything in and the part about the bull is where it gets ugly.
I told you we'd get to this part eventually.
And so it is the moment I saw the slaughtered
bull in the ring that I remembered the violence.
In the middle of my dance I look up to see her, down.
And it changed my dance...

Painting by Joe Muti
It is hard to make light of it.
Entertainment has gone to extremes throughout the ages...
and through musical theater, comedy and burlesque evolve into an extreme.
The sex dance! 21st century GoGo is actually pretty low key compared to more violent past times
and there may be venues I can't even fathom in my naivete
but... inform me...
It is important I come to understand.
Otherwise, there you have it...
We've made it full circle
and landed right on the edge
facing the inevitable tragic end.
I told you..
Comedy and tragedy are side by side.
So ends the trilogy.
But it is strange how the death of the bull is a tragic
and horrendous testament to a sick attraction to seeing the horrible.
and enough of us want to cope with it somehow and
so we come up with an answer, we even have a holiday for it.
That creepy ugly dark place where death and tragedy reign
in a playful venue.
Halloween is recognized every year
and it sits between life and death for us,
protecting us from the truth behind what the masks represent
the reality behind the sorrows displayed
I know.
It puts a damper on comedy if you end it with death
and that's why it becomes tragedy at that point.
But for us, our trilogy does end, right there!
At tragedy's door but not quite over the top!
OK? Good.
Did we do it? Does that answer all of your questions about comedy?
I didn't really think so... but at least we had a good time trying!
And the Falls Festival 2006 was everything and more for us!
Our "Open Mike's" are getting more and more interesting...
