IAM having a good time preparing for our next show!
Why?
Because it is all about fun and those strange events in your life
that may not start out to be a laugh but turn out to be the fun in an otherwise unpredictable world.

Of course we know somethings just don't end the way we want them to end...
But this is the real stuff. Stuff you can't make up.
The stuff that if you didn't laugh over it,
you may have to run screaming into the night.
And so what about it?
What's so important about Folly?
And the more important question "What does it have to do with art?"

And how did we ever get from there to here!

...As far back as ancient Greece, there was theatre, music and art to nourish the soul.
People would gather to honor and consider their universe at events that
would later be understood as the highest form of worship
and an ageless mode of communication...hum...
The Arts...
And that includes tragedy and comedy!
both, profound human experiences...
Exposed and grieved,
played out and celebrated!
Tears and laughter... side by side
to comfort us and keep us whole.

The magnitude of their discoveries still exist in our entertainment today...
Movie theaters attract millions of people everyday
and millions of people wear out their couches
to experience the modern versions of these great art forms...
Of course ... there's the very popular comedy theater for TV and Stage... and
we even have a TV channel dedicated to it ...
Comedy!
We want to laugh about how another American Staple... Comedy...
was nurtured and cultivated right here in Paterson.
We are not just thinking, COSTELLO, We are going back to a time when
dozens of theaters dotted our beautiful city's downtown.
They offered comedy to the post industrial working class from all over.
There are vestiges of such enterprises still thriving here today...
Of course the comic theater of the turn of the century has evolved
into a what is no longer the "sofisticated" burlesque of the Turn of the Century,
but the strip tease that exists today... the tragi-comic degredation of sex ...
as it has existed throughout the ages!
Alive and well in our sleepy little town...
But we will have that show and all of it's tragic undertones some other time...

For now- we want to remember those lush theaters and funny shows...
where anybody could go for a laugh...
Ha ha ha hah haahhahhhhaahahahhahahahahahahahahahah!!
I know...it is not funny....
yet
but I'm trying.
Seriously,
Christine
