Below are some of the common questions that I receive from clients, via email, phone conversations, and just about anywhere I run into fellow outdoorsmen. If you have a question that you do not see the answer to, feel free to email me or call me at 214.450.6665.

(Q) What time of year do you fish the most, and why? (A) I am crappie fishing year-round...January - December. Some of the best fishing can be in the winter-time...when no one else is on the lake.

(Q) What weights/colors of jigs do you fish with, and why? (A) If I am fishing 18' or less, I am using a 1/16 Jigum Jig. This weight will sink a little slower, and allow you to potentially catch more fish on the fall of the jig. If I am fishing more than 18' deep, or if the wind is up a little, then I will go to a 1/8 oz. Jigum Jig. I also use plastic jigs, but the Jigums are my go-to. Black/Chartreuse and White/Chartreuse are some of my favorites.

(Q) What rods and line size do you fish with? (A) If I am shooting docks, I have a 5' - 5.5' B'n'M SharpShooter rod with 4 lb. Hi-vis line on it. If I am over brushpiles/stumps, then I may still have the same rod, or anywhere from an 8' - 12' B'n'M rod with 6 lb. Hi-vis line on it. When we are slow-trolling, we are fishing with as many as 16, 12' B'n'M Pro Staff Trolling Rods with 6 lb. Hi-vis line on them.

(Q) What should I bring with me on our trip (A) State fishing license (if applicable), sunscreen, hat, camera, a snack or two ( I will have a cooler/ice on board), cooler for the ride home, and a lifejacket for children under the age of 13...and a positive outlook for a great day on the water!

(Q) You mentioned "Dock Shooting"...what is that? (A) Shooting docks is just like it sounds. We will use a 5' - 5.5' B'n'M Sharpshooter rod to "shoot" a 1/16 oz. jig back into the depths of a boat dock. There are crappie back in those shadows waiting to be caught. This is truly finesse fishing at it's finest, and with a little practice and instruction, can be done by anyone. This technique can also be used on low-clearance bridges.

(Q) Do you only fish docks for crappie? (A) Absolutely not. We may be: fishing brush, standing timber, creek channels, ledges, stumps, or anything else that looks "fishy".

(Q) Do you use both jigs and minnows? (A) We will be fishing jigs only unless prior arrangements are made...however winter-time fishing is mostly done with minnows. Historically, the jig bite is very slow in the colder months.

(Q) Do you guide on lakes you have never fished before? (A) Absolutely. I have done trips on many Texas lakes that I had never fished prior to that trip. I am proud to say that they have all been very successful for the clients.

The boat you will be fishing from is an Alumacraft Magnum 165CS...with a 75HP Mariner engine.

This boat will comfortably fish 3 people, and it's deep-v construction keeps you dry and comfortable all day.

Larger parties can be accommodated with advance notice.

It is my goal to make sure you have an enjoyable day on the water, and that your expectations are met or exceeded!
