schools for students to support each other and learn about homophobia
and other oppressions; 2. educate the school community about homophobia,
gender identity, and sexual orientation issues; and 3. fight discrimination,

The Town Hall
Committee Against War and Hate formed on September 20, 2001, in an
emergency response to the September 11 tragedy. The first Town Hall
meeting saw 500 concerned San Franciscans come together to discuss
the significance of September 11 and what would happen next. As the
country mourned, US government leaders talked of revenge while pointing
dangerous fingers at Middle Eastern people. In response, the Town
Hall Committee voted to work together to achieve these four points
of unity: STOP THE WAR! STOP RACIST SCAPEGOATING! DEFEND CIVIL LIBERTIES!
