MORA COUNTY, NEW MEXICO
Olivine-hypersthene chondrite (L6)
An 87.5 kg. stone was found by Mr. Donald Wiggins while he was planting a field. The meteorite was kept in the family for 67 years until it was sold to meteorite hunter and colleague Michael Cottingham. Wagon Mound shows ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL brecciation and much structure on the polished surfaces. Nickel-iron flecks are plentiful. A GREAT ADDITION to your collection! Classification (A. Rubin, U.C.L.A. 1999) Fayalite25; shock S2, weathering W2. [Photos (at top) and information courtesy Mr. Cottingham].
