We (Ron Hartman) were first organized in 1963 in partnership under another name.  In that era,  we were one of the largest importers of tektites from Asia, wholesaling and retailing to museums, educational institutions, and collectors worldwide.  Meteorites were also prepared and sold, and later became the integral part of the business.   The organization was reorganized in  2000 as a web-based business dba: The R. N. Hartman Collection, and with a family-based structure. In 2005 the company was incorporated  in  the  State of  California  as R. N. Hartman, Inc.  Today, while still selling meteorites, thin-sections and related materials,  the business has become a major assembler and worldwide retailer of membrane suspension boxes.   We are factory-licensed to manufacture, assemble, and sell membrane boxes, by INCA. S.A. Plastics, owner of  International membrane box patents.  Our company is licensed in Walnut, California , and certified to operate in Los Angeles county, California under its current name.  The business is managed under the direction of  Ronald N. Hartman.
 

 
          Ron Hartman holds a degree in Astronomy from U.C.L.A., (where he studied meteoritics under the late Frederick C. Leonard, who was founder of the Meteoritical Society), and an advanced degree from California State University at Los Angeles. 
         The meteorite division has always functioned to fund, in part, the maintenance of the R. N. Hartman Collection of Meteorites, which contributes use of specimens for public education, with a large teaching display located in facilities at Mt. San Antonio College.  The collection, which consists of many hundreds of meteorites representing many different classes and rare specimens,  has been listed in the July, 2002 Supplement to METEORITICS & PLANETARY SCIENCE, V. 37, 7 (METEORITICAL SOCIETY) under Addresses of Meteorite Collections and Research Facilities.
