$#!+

Dots and squiggles and shapes and curves

Wont fit my words they make it worse

Punctuation how it quite unnerves

My time spent trying to create verse

This stuff is just a colon full

An ampersand has me sinking

Dash it all I want to cull

Them period and thats weird thinking

Can I perhaps bracket off

Those things that cause such acute pain

I brace myself but its not enough

To treat it all with grave disdain

A semicolon shows the place

The page gives as I pound it in

And quote a prayer to divine grace

Shining star please let me win

I tilled the dictionary for each spelling

But bar the words its a catastrophe

I am not equal to the dabs its selling

A question marks the apostrophe

They are overwhelming but back I slash

Square off to hold them hard at bay

I need more skill to make this hash

Underscore the words I slay

So Ive decided words alone

Will have to make the point for me

Im going on a way my own

To make unique poetry.
