This was based on the D. H. Lawrence Story of the same name. If you are not familiar with the story, find it and read it. It's quite short. The premise in a nutshell is a boy that can predict the winners of races by riding his rocking horse, however the strain of doing so eventually kills him.

It's meant to be thought provoking, and a way of capturing the mood of the action parts of the story in one visual image.
