Adna A. Hecox's biography states that Adna (senior) and Polly Hecox crossed the wilderness of upstate New York to Fort Niagara with one child. Polly and their daughter took a sloop across Lake Erie to Fort Maldin, meeting Adna, who had driven a herd of cattle overland. It is not known whether this child survived childhood.
