World's First Carvin Dragonburst CT6M!

Carvin Custom Shop scores BIG!

This Carvin California Carved Top was ordered on 14 March 2006, after a few years of planning. Carolyn, my wonderful wife of 20 years, put down a hefty down payment to allow me to have the guitar of my dreams built just for me.

I knew when the CT6 model was introduced that I'd have to own one someday. I also knew that it had to be special and unique just for me. Actually, all Carvin CT's are special but I had to again get a Custom Shop build that was different, really personal.

Here are the options as I ordered them:
CT6M
QTC Quilted Maple
DST Dragonburst
TN Tung oil finish back of neck
R14 14" Fretboard radius
AB Abalone block inlays
G Gold hardware
402 Creme pickups/bezels
SL Straplocks
ETR
Nickel-steel strings (NO Elixirs) intonated and tuned to Eb

After two painstaking months of following the guitar through its production stages via Carvin's GuitarTraq system (click here: http://www.carvin.com/guitartraq/ ), it arrived. Here is basically what following your Carvin Custom Shop build with GuitarTraq will tell you:

03/20/2006 Neck construction
03/28/2006 Body Construction and Sanding
04/10/2006 Painting and Finishing
05/02/2006 Buffing and Fret Detailing
05/03/2006 String Setup and Quality Assurance
05/04/2006 Buffing and Fret Detailing
05/04/2006 String Setup and Quality Assurance
05/09/2006 Packed and Sent to Shipping Department

The wait was excruciating.

There's quite a difference between photos taken with indoor (artificial) lighting and natural lighting. Either way, this Dragonburst CT6M is stunningly beautiful. Here's an outdoor shot, taken under cloudy conditions:
