Getting there is always an adventure!

map-france-lagrasse.jpg

Lagrasse is situated between Narbonne (30 minute drive), with its beautiful Mediterranean beaches and Carcassonne (40 minutes), the nearest airport.

Flights are available to/from Carcassone/ London via RyanAir.
Flights are available to Toulouse from many European cities. Toulouse is about a 2-hour drive from Lagrasse.
The TGV train from Paris takes about 3 1/2 hours to Narbonne. (There is no advantage in transferring to the Carcassonne train station from Narbonne!)
Many flights are also available to Perpignan, which is about a 1 1/2-hour drive.

Since there is no train service nor any bus service, it is highly recommended that you rent a car. Rental cars are available from all the major companies such as http://www.cheap-car-rental.com. If you are staying longer than 17 days, you can lease a car from http://www.renaultusa.com/ or https://www.kemwel.com/index.cfm The advantage of leasing is that the insurance is often included.

Directions to La Maison Lautier:

From A61: take exit 25 (Lezignan). On leaving the Autoroute toll, turn left at roundabout and follow signs to Lagrasse (approx 20 mins).

When entering Fabrezan remember “priorité a droite” (right of way) to the first road coming in on the right, take 2nd right for Lagrasse, a further 10 mins. You are rewarded by a beautiful view of the village as you come down into Lagrasse.

At the unmarked T-junction, turn right, down the tree lined “promenade” with various shops and café’s. Continue past the school on your right, café and shops on left. When level with the garage (on your right) you will see a war memorial straight ahead. Go “soft” left here (do not go sharp left up the narrow street) and continue to the bottom of the residents’ parking – almost to the river - where you will see a one-way street on your left with a “no entry” sign. Ignore this and drive up the cobbled lane (rue des Tineries) until you come to the covered market place in a small square. Continue to the far left hand corner, past the “Marie” or mayor’s office. You will come to a narrow street (rue des Mazels) that leads to La Maison Lautier, which is located on your right, between the square you just left and the bakery square. There are sometimes parking places in this square. The keys will be at 14 rue Paul Vergnes. To get the keys, park, and walk up the hill, towards the church. Turn left at the church and continue to the “T” at the small square, turn left. The first house is 14 rue Paul Vergnes.

From Carcassonne: you may like to take the beautiful but twisty road from Trebes (junct 24). On arrival in Lagrasse, immediately after crossing the river turn right down a slip road into the car park and head back towards the river. Then.turn left up “rue des Tineries” and follow directions above.
