Up

  • Node Callsign -  AE5V-10 is mine.  Put your callsign-10 - Don't use your call without SSID
  • Select the Comm Port
  • Select the Baud Rate from the TNC to the Computer - not the radio rate
  • Select the Data Length - 8
  • Select the Parity - N
  • Select Stop - 1
  • Select Flow Control - I use RTS/CTS
  • Select TNC Type
  • Select File Path - I use C:\Program Files\TELPAC\
  • Select IP Connection Type
  • Check Enable Auto Checkin to Host - I use 360  (every 6 hours)
  • UnCheck APRS Reporting (this is a recent change)
    • Click Set APRS parameters
    • Click Grid Square and enter your grid square for approximate location
    • OR ... Click Lat/Lon and enter your exact Latitude and Longitude where DD is degrees and mm.mm is minutes in decimal degrees, not seconds.  N(orth) if you are north of the equator.  W(est) if you are near North America.  * DDmm.mmN/S * DDDmm.mmE/W * 32 degrees 31.10 minutes would be entered as 3231.10N.  92 degrees 08.46 minutes would be entered as 09208.46W if you are in West Monroe, Louisiana.
    • Enter the Freq, RF baud rate, range of your station and WL ID which is currently "WL"
    • Click Save to Registry
  • Connection Timeout - 5
  • Check Enable Logging
  • Select Max Streams - I use 3
  • Click Restore TNC Settings on Shutdown
  • Select Server Type - WK2K
  • Select the three CMS to use in different parts of the country or there may be 3 defaults already installed (depends upon version)
    • contact me for specifics if you do not have the IP addresses
  • Click Check TNC Comm
  • Click Initialize

As a reminder ...

As the versions change, some changes take place in the way it is displayed.  Use this as a guide, if it is not flowing smoothly, or has a few more or a few less options.

This is not a traditional APRS program, but using the APRS option will allow your Telpac Gateway to be shown on APRS maps.  This is currently not working as the RMS and CMS conversions are taking place.  Give it a little time.

Contact the PMBO / RMS station you are going to use and confirm that it is OK for you to use them for Telnet purposes.  You may change the PMBO / RMS to another one you have contacted and feel comfortable using.
