Mitchell's is our home away from home. Located in beautiful Lambertville NJ on the scenic Delaware River (try surfing
THAT river some time, dude!) across from New Hope, PA. Recorded live during the summer of 2004. Thanks to
Ray Milora for the support and the recording - direct to digital.
Baja - a cover originally done by the Astronauts. Bruce on the vintage (real, not a re-issue) Fender
Jazz bass and Kevin "Guitar" Meehan on the smokin' Jaguar guitar. (temporarily unavailable)
Pipeline - seminal surf song done originally by the Chantays. Again, Kevin's surfing along on guitar.
Surf Rider - by the Lively Ones and most
famous as the song played during the final credits on Pulp Fiction. Kevin on guitar, Bruce on bass. (Not currently
available).
Penetration - by the Pyramids (we often start out sets with this one). Kevin Guitar....
Lynx Tail - by Link Wray. Bruce on guitar (tremolo city!) and Kevin on bass
Holly Tiki - by the Aqua Velvets. Bruce on guitar. Check out Rick's entrance to the song on drums.
Yow-za!
Green Room - by the Nebulas. Kevin rocks on guitar and we like to close out hot sets with this awesone cover.
Beck's Bolero - a cover of a Jeff Beck/Jimmy Page song from the late 60's. Instrumental and Bruce on guitar.
Start-Spangled Banner/Hendrix jam - a 'homage' to Jimi. Surfed up version of the Star Spangled banner and then right into something
Bruce wrote that imitates the jam Jimi did at the end of the Woodstock movie (when everyone was picking up the trash). Bruce
on guitar and check out Kevin on bass at the end of this tune(s). He does some wild stuff.
Now to our original stuff....
Commocean - Kevin wrote this and I like it ALOT !!!! It's the first song on the video and really captures
the surf feel. Kev's on guitar, as you will see in the video. (video? There's a video? Tell me MORE !!!!)
- temporarily unavailable.
Interceptor - Kevin (wrote and guitar). A nice piece of quick ear-candy.
Surf Bum - Bruce writing and guitar. Bruce's first surf
song. (Not currently available).
Osama Don't Surf - Bruce wrote and plays bass with Keb-mo on guitar. It's a riff Bruce has played with for decades,
but turned it into a formal song for ths band...Kevin came up with the song name.. a riff on the 'Charlie don't surf' line
from the movie Apocolype Now. (name the actor who said the line.)
Surf 101 - Kevin's somewhat sinister surf song (he's on guitar, of course). The 101 is a double-entendre
for 101 (an intro level course) and 101 (the highway along the Pacific coast in California).
