Troop 529 was formed in 1961 with Lutheran Church of the Master as its sponsor. 529 are well known in Viking Council and the district as a canoeing and low impact camping troop. The troop owns five canoes, ten tents and lots of other camping equipment. Currently, we service 15 full time Scouts in our Troop.
At least once a year and sometimes 2 or 3 times the troop goes into the Boundary Waters. We camp monthly, even in winter. High Adventure trips have included BWCAW/Quetico, Florida Sea Base, Isle Royale, and Many Point Camp. Selling Christmas mainly funds Camping and Troop expenses wreaths.
The Troop meets every Tuesday, at 7:00 pm, at Lutheran Church of the Master, Emerson & 69th Ave. N., Brooklyn Center. Courts of Honor are held 4 times a year at which time boys get rank and badges they have earned. The Troop has had 33 boys make Eagle Scout, and average at least two Eagle Courts of Honor per year.
