What is Stump!?

Gilligan Stump! and Tha Perfesser... is a wackily odd, madcap comedic/rock show.
Gilligan Stump! plays a mean guitar and belts out hilarious lyrics with a wide variety of topics.
All the while his mute, mild mannered silently scientific sidekick, Tha Perfesser...,
accompanies him on snare drum and many other absurdly theatrical manners.
Together this "Insanely Great Comedic Duo" makes for one unpredictable, side-splitting evening
filled with music, laughter, and gratuitous partying making Penn and Teller look like a couple of
magicians, and Tenacious D sound as safe as the Backstreet Boys.

Gilligan Stump! and Tha Perfesser.... is a Joseph langham creation

The Stump! show is...

Joseph Langham as Gilligan Stump!

Michael Aquino as Tha Perfesser...

Brief History

Gilligan Stump! started out as a character in a play by Joseph Langham. It was a strange play
about a boy (Gilligan) who's parents were on LSD when he was conceived and when he was born, and
his brave attempt to prove to his father that he wasn't a hallucination. The play was produced
twice to many confused and bewildered people.

It then came time for Joseph to begin performing silly songs he had written, and so he formed a
band in San Marcos, Tx. and called it Gilligan Stump! for lack of a weirder name. Jason Pinchback
joined on conga drums and was followed shortly thereafter by Chris Chipman on
Saxophone. When Chris and Jason joined up with other bands leaving a few gigs still
booked, Joseph decided to do these gigs solo and began then calling himself Gilligan Stump!

As a solo act, Gilligan Stump!moved to Austin, Tx. and got some excellent press and audience
attention opening for acts such as the phenomenal Aslyum Street Spankers, the legendary
Jonathan Richman, and the pop/grunge band Matchbox 20 at the famed Electric Lounge (RIP). These gigs
led to a weekly show at the Flamingo Cantina on Austin's world-famous 6th Street. It was at this
show that Joseph added his first sidekick to the show, Eric Love, who played the tax-man.
The mute sidekick added a wonderful level of absurdness to the already strange show.

Joseph moved the show to New York City and invited his friend Sam Mercer to join the act as
sidekick. Joseph renamed the sidekick character, Tha Perfesser..., and together the two performed
hundreds of shows in a 4 year period doing their best to make the Stump! show a
household name. They played such NYC venues as The Sidewalk Cafe, CBGBs and Surf Reality.
They made quite a stink at the last Big Stinking Comedy Fest garnering excellent critical
reviews and getting them both invited to audition for Disney/ABC. At the end of this 4 year
period, Joseph took an extended hiatus from the show to pursue other projects.

In the next two years Joseph won the FringeNYC Excellence Award for Solo show for his show,
'HAR HAR; An Evening with Harburg Harrisbrandt' and had the pleasure of having his play 'Out to Lunch'
produced and published. Then along came Stump! shouting loudly in Joseph's head again.

BrokenArmProductions put out a casting call for a new Perfesser and hired Michael Aquino for
the role. Rik Sansone was asked to run sound and lights, and just happened to morph into
John Wilkes a welcome third character to the show. Together the three had their first
cabaret run at UNDER St. Marks which Backstage called "One of the smartest, funniest shows
New York has to offer...". With shows occurring in less technically demanding venues,
the character of John Wilkes is utilized much less these days.

Look for the duo soon at a location near you.
