Boating for me begin with the purchase of my first boat in 1959. It was a 17' Runabout Boat Kit from Lugar Boats that that had that now great saying on the box "some assembley required". After working through step 1 to 979 (about) I bought a 1959, V4 - 50 H.P. Johnson Outboard Motor. That was the latest and greatest in outboard motor technology available at the time. Again some assembley was required to install the motor, steering, controls, electrical lighting, etc. on the boat. In other words what is called Rigging the Boat today.
I really enjoyed the project .. I guess to much .. because I found myself wanting to become involved with the boating industry. I began working in Minnesota as a boat rigger for one of the major boat dealers in my area in 1969. The Dealership handled Johnson, Evinrude, MerCruiser and OMC power units. Its boat line included Bayliner, Bass Tracker, Ranger Bass Boats and Alumna Craft. I worked with this company until 1979 when I moved to Florida and started my own Marine Parts and Repair Shop.
I returned to Minnesota in 1982 and have been working here in my own business, and for other dealers. Over my 50 + years in the marine industry I received factory training from OMC, Johnson, Evinrude, Eska, and Mercruiser. And I have worked with boats like Boatel, Chris Craft, Larson, Wellcraft, Cruiser Inc., Crestliner, Bayliner, and Lund just to mention a few.
After buying a computer the next logical step was to put my experience to work on the Internet. So in 1997 I started to learn HTML and began building my own web page. Although I am not a pro at HTML I hope to provide a service for those who have need for a alterative source in Marine Parts and Supplies. And to provide marine parts for some hard to find brand motors.
So please let me know your thoughts so I can provide better service for all. Your help and comments on this service would be greatly appreciated.
