What is social networking, anyway? My answer is that it is a way of keeping up with your contacts.
If you live on this planet, you've probably heard someone in the news talking about Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or their
blog. What are these tools good for?
Twitter - broadcast your current status to your followers in one sentence, and find out what the people you are following
are doing.
Facebook - You can update your friends on what's on your mind in a few sentences, share photos, links, etc. and see what
they are sharing too. Biggest growth area is baby boomers like me, looking for information on their next class reunion.
MySpace - Similar to facebook, with more emphasis on sharing music. Seems to have a bigger audience of 20-somethings
Blogs - or web logs, like keeping a diary for 20,000 or more people to read. You can share anything, but it's mostly
one-way communication, although you can allow comments. Your platform for whatever you want to say.
The thing to remember on these sites is that "it's all about me!"
