BRIDGEVIEW FIRE DEPARTMENT
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
The Bridgeview Fire Department EMS (Emergency
Medical Services) program currently has 7 EMT's and 30
Paramedics.
Our equipment includes two-state-of-the-art Advanced Life Support
Ambulances, along with one additional back-up ambulance. All of our
current
paramedics participate in at least 48 hours of continuing education
every
year to maintain their paramedic certification.
The Bridgeview Fire Department EMS
Division
offers several educational programs to the residents of our community,
such as CPR Basic Rescuer Certification and Basic First-Aid.
For further information call our office between 8 am
and 4 pm at 924-8250.
FREE BLOOD PRESSURE
TESTING
The Bridgeview Fire Department offers free blood
pressure
testing Monday - Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm. Come in and have have our
trained personnel check your blood pressure.
When the ambulance arrives at your door we have a
limited
number of hospitals that we can transport to. The first priority is to
establish the severity of the medical problem. By law we are required
to
transport to the nearest appropriate hospital. Next, if we are not
going
to transport to the nearest hospital, then we are required to get
by-pass
authorization from our resource hospital.
We are allowed to transport to these hospitals if
the
patient condition is stable:
Little Company of Mary
La Grange Community
Mac Neal Medical Center
Palos Community
Christ Hospital & Medical Center
