Born in 1963 in Bozeman, Montana, I moved with my family to Michigan, Iowa, California, New Jersey and Illinois.
After graduating from Chicago Christian High School in Palos Heights, Illinois, I attended college at Calvin College, Trinity
Christian College and Southern Illinois University. I graduated in 1986 from SIU-C with a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema
and Photography. God was clearly calling me to the Christian ministry. After a brief stint at a photography studio,
I went to work for Evangelical Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Carbondale, Illinois. For the next several years I worked
to develop a ministry to international students through Reformed University Ministries, the campus ministry of the Presbyterian
Church in America. In 1990 we moved to Jackson, Mississippi to attend Reformed Theological Seminary. Graduating
in 1993 with an M-Div, I returned to campus ministry with internationals at the University of Florida. Two years later
we moved to Illinois to plant a new PCA church in Marion. Providence Presbyterian Church existed for 5 years before
merging with her mother church, EPC in Carbondale. At that time I accepted a call to Covenant OPC in Brighton,
Michigan, where I served for five years. In August 2005 our family moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin where I presently serve
as the pastor of Grace OPC.
Getting to know my family...
In 1983 God brought me together with DeLou Ittner, who had transferred to SIU-C at the same time I had come from Chicago.
We met in church, and at a small group Bible study. In 1986 we married and began our family. Two years later we
had our first child, Samantha. In 1990 we had a son, Ian. During our stay in Jackson, we were blessed with another
daughter, Grace. Our second son -- Elijah -- was born during our time in Florida and our third son, Richard Cameron,
was born in Marion, Illinois. In 2004 our sixth child -- Christian Athanasius -- was born in Brighton, Michigan. In
addition to our wonderful children, we have a dog (Daisy), miscellaneous cats, and a small herd of horses (belonging to Samantha
-- Richie & Liberty)
