| Brown Park's Victorian Lights | |
| Last year, the City of St. John purchased seven Victorian street
lights to be placed in various locations in our Brown Park. The 12 1/2' lights are fluted
with a round base. These globed, cast-aluminum lights were paid for using donations from
our local Odd Fellows Lodge, the St. John Women's League, the Cornwell Memorial fund, and
from a National Trails grant.
With the addition of five St. John
homeowners each buying a light, our city qualified for an extra free light bringing the
total number to eight lights for our main park area!
Our city work crews have now installed these eight
lights and will complete the park's lighting job by installing four additional Victorian
lights on Brown Park hill.
Bill Ogden of Timberline Tree
Care(located in Cunningham, Kansas) traveled to Mexico last December to pick up the first
eight and is planning to go down there again this fall for the other four.
Our city crews will start removing
overhead lines and wooden poles throughout Brown Park once all the lights are installed.
