Recommended trees for planting in south-central Kansas

The Kansas Urban Forestry Council has prepared a list of trees recommended for planting in this area. This list will assist the public in choosing trees to plant in their yards, as well as on the easements near the street.

As of July, 1996, the city of St. John ordinance has been in effect. The ordinance states that only recommended trees may be planted on the alley and street easements. The list of trees recommended for this area is extensive, and will help the public in deciding what types of trees to plant. It is a good idea to plant a variety of trees, both for versatility in color of foliage, size and blooms, and also to prevent having all the trees killed in the event of blight.

Many of the trees listed, as well as other varieties of the same trees which my be planted at the discretion of the property owner, city and tree board, are available at Delp Tree Farm.
