The Green Williford Family is the next most important line in the Author's maternal pedigree. This line is fairly easy to trace since there
were few Willifords in the Wilson, Sumner, and Davidson County areas of Tennessee. The reader should also be aware that in the late 1700's
and early 1800's, Tennessee was still part of North Carolina and most often referred to as "Indian Territory". These counties once covered
most of this area. When doing research in early Tennessee, it is often found that a particular individual is located in different counties
and in both states. All the members of this family were born in what today is the State of Tennessee. Where Green's father came
from is unknown. Most of the family lived in the north central region, but may have extended as far south as Bedford County. Being well
documented there is not much uncertainty about our heritage along this line.
