He married Sarah Burgis.
William Penn, realizing the disaster to the first Virginia Colony of Clerk men, insisted that those going to his colony in Pennsylvania become proficient in manual trades. Accordingly, Edward became a mason and his brother Thomas became a blacksmith. Thomas came on the "Welcome" with Penn on October 27, 1682. Five years later, Edward, with his wife, Sarah Burgis Pearson, came in 1687 with their children. Edward became a successful builder in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
