This is the best overview that I have ever found. It is suitable for educating not only yourself, but other family members, school officials, and others your child will deal with. Dr. Chandler, the author of this site, writes in plain english, and understandable terms. Best of all he doesn't talk down to the parents faced with this challenge. I have even written to Dr. Chandler and he does write back. Unfortunately for those of us in the United States, Dr. Chandler is in Canada. For anyone in Canada, I'd make the effort to make contact with Dr. Chandler.
A wonderful newsgroup for mothers(and Dads) of kids with ODD. Great advice, great support. Say hi to MamaBear.

For brothers/sisters of special needs kids. These kids end up with unmet needs if you aren't careful. It contains 2 support groups: one for kids with special needs siblings and one for adults. I signed my daughter up and she's enjoying it. It helps her know that she's not the only one and she's enjoying talking to people who believe what she's saying about her brother.
This is a link to other disorders discussed by Dr. Chandler. Typically ODD/CD also have other problems. This is a great reference to look up whatever other problems your child may be having.
Another good general web reference site for ODD/ADHD.
Professional References
Be aware as you amble thru these sites that there are several names for ODD/CD. If you don't see ODD or CD called out as such, look for Developmental Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, or Emotionally Disturbed.
This site has links to Self-Help Sourcebook,(the link listed below called "Parents with Acting out Child" is a search from this online reference),American Academy for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Facts for Families,(direct link listed below),Psychological Self-Help (which teaches you how to change yourself), and Mental Disorders - Symptoms and Treatment (the 2 definitions from the Mental Health Net above are found under this link). Also included is an index of various mental health topics. It does not reference ODD/CD but calls them Developmental Disorders.
Last time I checked, this server was down.
At one point, I got very interested in how emergency medical providers handle out of control patients. This is a great site for emergency providers.
There is an article under this site on patient restraint. I never could find a good way to go straight to it, so here's the instructions on how to reach it. On the left-hand side of this site is a set of options. Choose "Search MERGInet". In the search box, type "Miller" and then press "SEARCH!". The article is called "All Tied Up and No Place To Go" and is in 3 parts. I do NOT recommend that you try this on your own. The legal consequences can get hairy (See "Our Story" link off the main page). But in an absolute emergency, this will work.
This really has nothing to do with Oppositional Defiant or Conduct Disorder kids. But I've found it very helpful in understanding myself, especially why I find some things easy and some almost impossible. It may or may not be helpful to you.
