Ian Dunbar is the unique one of the band and he's also the only "snow bird" among us as well...His
Bass that he so proudly played for many years was "homemade" by Ian himself, I believe that it was initially a Boy Scout project.
We have done many a surgery in the field to keep the old Bass together, sort of felt like we needed a M.A.S.H. unit set up
at all times to keep her sounding good. What a sound and unlike any other around. Unfortunately she reached a point where
she needed to retire for a while and Ian plans on a major restoration, can't wait. In the meantime he puchased a new to him
off the shelf model, looks nice, sound is good, but it'll never replace the old one. It's funny how we get so attached to
things. A 2008 update, while in Florida this wintr he purchased a dandy of a Bass, what a sound...perhaps he'll have a bass
for sale????
Ian has played music for a long time with many greats across New Brunswick.
Besides Bluegrass he played in a Country dance band for a little extra money, funny how there
is more money in Country than in playing Bluegrass.
PS. Be on the look out for the new "Dunbar" motorhome, coming soon to a festival near you.
