Who will see my site?
Anyone that you give your site address to and any computer owner who finds your site on a search engine. The popularity of your web site can and should be enhanced by your outside advertising. Once your site is up and running, you may put the web address on all of your advertising medium such as, business cards, stationary, television advertising, newsletters, phone directory listings, fliers, or advertisements in newspapers or specialty publications.30 percent of adults between the ages of 55 to 75 own home PCs and 53 percent who are college graduates have purchased personal computers. In fact, according to a new study conducted by Westport, Connecticut-based Greenfield Online, Inc., 92 percent of seniors have window-shopped on the Web -- and a whopping 78 percent of them have completed transactions. In addition, the study found that online seniors have substantial household incomes that make them players to be reckoned with in the e-commerce arena.
What does all this mean to you? It means exposure, business and money. But you can not capitalize on this market if you do not have a web site available. Convenience is the keyword. Having a Web Site to advertise your business will give potential customers the ability to feel a personal connection with you and your business. The availability of e-mail has opened communications between the consumer and the retailer that has never before in history existed.
What kinds of things can I do with my site?
With your own Web Site, you can advertise weekly specials encouraging viewers to come back. Information about your company history will also help to draw people into your establishment. Online coupons are another way to pull business into your establishment. All that is required is for the surfer to have a printer. An e-mail section will help you to stay aware of your customer's needs and desires and may help greatly with establishing demographics to improve your service by allowing first hand contact with your customers or directing the input by using a questionnaire. The ideas are up to you.No job is too small! And if something you request is beyond my capabilities, I will either learn how to do what you want or I will help you find a larger company that can provide you with the services you desire.
Where will my site be located?
Where your website will be placed is completely up to you. I can locate a free ftp server that will place advertisements on your site in return for the use of their space. Many of the free servers allow you to register your domain name with an appendage of their name. For example: Simply-Mad's website is www.Simply-Mad.20m.com. This is a great way to have your name on your domain without the cost of a paid service. You may locate your own web server and register a domain name. Or I can locate a server with a monthly fee.If you are on America Online you are automatically given 2 megabytes of web space with each of your screen names. Unfortunately, AOL does not make this web space available to outside designers without you revealing your screen name and pass word. Thusly, this puts your account at risk. I do not recommend using America Online FTP space, nor Compuserve (which uses the same procedure as AOL).
You may have space available on another online provider, but I am not familiar with the upload process. If you wish to use this space, we can work together and see if it's possible.
